    We've seen multiple user signals that error tracking is a tool people want within PostHog. Network response status and speed, Errors, Events, and Replay overlap to give a full picture of what's happening in the user's app.

Goals

Q4 2024 Objectives

Human readable stack traces for Javascript

  • Separate ingestion route to produce human readable stack trace from new exceptions
  • Store customer provided source map files

Ensure scalability of query time issue grouping

  • Migrate to ClickHouse based overrides table for issue merging

Alerting via CDP

  • Continue implementation of custom masking via fingerprint
  • Build Hog function template
  • Add support for custom archive / snoozing rules

Objective: Launch

  • Improve UI / UX of individual exceptions
  • Release to cohorts of supported users as available during beta
  • Openly available product with support for Javascript & Python
